(La Puente) – Kalin Bradford rushed for 118 yards and three touchdowns to lead Workman to a 41-7 rout of Mountain View Friday night at La Puente High.

Michael Silva matched Bradford with three touchdowns, two on receptions and one rushing. The Lobos made quick work of Mountain View jumping out to a 34-0 halftime lead and cruising the rest of the way. Workman Coach Fred De Lelio emptied his bench in the second half as Bradford didn’t carry the ball after doing all his damage in the first half.

The Lobos needed only four plays to score on its first possession. Bradford scored on his first carry of the night – an 18 yard romp into the end zone for a 7-0 lead.

Three minutes later, it was Bradford again as he rumbled over and through the View defense for a 14 yard touchdown to cap a 58 yard five play drive. Bradford’s first two carries resulted in 32 yards and two touchdowns.

“He’s a load. He’s our workhorse,” said De Lelio. “He’s a train that’s tough to bring down.”

A quick three and out led to another quick Workman score. The Lobos, behind Bradford and Michael Silva marched 70 yards on six plays. Silva, the lightning to Bradford’s thunder, caught an out pattern from quarterback Richard Camberos and raced 23 yards into the corner of the end zone. Before the first quarter gun sounded it was 20-0 Lobos.

It was more of the same in the second, Silva scored on an eight yard run to complete a nine play, 80 yard drive with 7:12 left in the in quarter. Bradford had runs of 19 and 11 yards to highlight the march.

Two minutes later Bradford got loose again. He broke a tackle at the line of scrimmage, brushed off a couple of defenders and 51 yards later, he was waltzing across the goal line. It was 34-0 and the second half was academic.

The Vikings almost got on the board just before the half but Josymar Ulloa was tackled at the two yard line after a 43 yard pass from Jason Codero as the clock hit zero.

Mt. View finally broke through late in the third. Cordero scored on a three yard keeper with 54 seconds left in the quarter.

By that time Workman had already hit the 40 mark after three yard run by Silva earlier in the third.

Camberos was efficient leading the Lobos as he rushed four times for 35 yards and completed eight of ten passes for 116 yards and a touchdown. Silva ran for 54 yards and caught four passes for another 62.

Bradford, Silva and Camberos are the leaders of a talented senior class.

“We have a lot of returning players this year. We are satisfied with the win but our goal is a league title,” De Lelio added.
