1. After sweeping the Giants on the road, the Dodgers are swept by the Diamondbacks at home.

2. South El Monte U.S. bantamweight boxer Joseph Diaz Jr. falls to Cuba’s Lazaro Alvarez 21-15 in his second  bout at the London Olympics.

3. Alhambra U.S. Super heavyweight Dominic Brezeale was eliminated by Russia’s Magomed Omarov 19-8 at the London Games.

4. Former USC/Arkansas quarterback Mitch Mustain is now pitching in the minor leagues for the Chicago White Sox organization.

5. Former Atlanta Falcons running back Art Malone passes away at 64.

6. Wisconsin senior running back Montee Ball suffered a concussion and facial injuries after being attacked by five men near Wisconsin’s campus. He has since been released from the hospital.

7. Rowland quarterback George Campos 2011 stats -junior year: Passing: 87-157- 1055 yards, 7TD, 8 Int.

8. Norm Chow (65) is a head coach for the first time as he takes over at Hawaii.

9. Temple City’s Corey Copping works five innings, strikes out six and allows four hits to lead Arroyo Seco to a 5-2 win over the San Jose Giants and into the Palomino World Series.

10. On this date in 1979 Yankee catcher Thurman Munson was killed in a plane crash outside Canton, Ohio at the age of 32.
