Mid Valley JUCO Wire… Week 1

Mt. Sac 35                  Pasadena  30                                     (Sept. 5, 2009 at Walnut, CA)

 Mt. Sac:  Jesse Canada (Monrovia) picked up where he left of last year with seven catches for 122 yards and two touchdowns.  Ahmere Owens (Muir) had one catch for seven yards and two punt returns for 12 yards.  Bryce McBride (Los Altos) led things on the ground with nine carries for 32 yards and had 123 yards in kick off returns.

Defensively Austin Daniels had six tackles and Arness Ikner had one.

 Pasadena:  Jonathan Troast (South Pasadena) went seven of 17 for 104 yards and a touchdown.  The touchdown was caught by Reuben Thomas (Muir) who caught three for 57 yards.  Thomas also had two rushes for four yards.

On defense, Williams Do (Temple City) had four tackles.

Citrus 7                       Santa Ana 38                                      (Sept. 5, 2009 at Azusa, CA)

Tim Gilmore (H.H Wilson) was the leading ground gainer for Citrus gaining 61 yards on nine carries.  Isaac Tucker (West Covina) had three carries for eight yards and also had three receptions for 15 yards.  Brandon Stansell (Rowland) chipped in with seven yards rushing and 44 yards on two kick off returns.

The defense was led by Bronze Withem (San Dimas) with 10 tackles and Nico Barbone (San Dimas) added three.

 Fullerton 41                Compton 6                         (Sept. 5, 2009 at Fullerton, CA) 

 Tre Sumler (Rosemead) made his debut for Fullerton a big one grabbing his first interception of the year and returning it 41 yards for a touchdown.  Sumler also had three tackles in the win.  Joe Morales (South El Monte) had four tackles, Raul Pintado (Schurr) had three, David Slover (South Hills) had two and Alex Valdez (Schurr) and Filipo Tuala (South El Monte) each had one.

 ELAC 7                       Cerritos 49                                 (Sept. 5, 2009 at Cerritos, CA) 

 Pedro Velasquez (El Monte) completed 17 of 34 passes for 215 yards and had one interception in the loss for East Los Angeles.
