The Lancers (3-0, 0-0) remain undefeated after three games as they held the Crusaders (1-2, 0-0) to a single score Friday night at Occidental College.
Israel Lacy powered the Lancer ground game, rushing for 180 yards on nine carries, scoring three times on long runs and one on a punt return. Amir Evans contributed 119 yards on 10 carries and scored the first touchdown of the game one minute into the contest.
Whittier 33, Whittier Christian 19
Quarterback Michael Viramontes scored four touchdowns to keep the Cardinals undefeated as they upset the Heralds Friday night at Whittier College.
The Cardinals benefitted from two deep kickoff returns by Gerry Pantoja, who set up two of Viramontes’ scores by putting the Cardinals deep in Heralds’ territory. Viramontes scored all four of his touchdowns inside the Heralds’ 10-yard line.
Ryan Esslinger completed 26 of 39 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns, including a nine-yard pass to Noah Evans in the loss for the Heralds. Cody Brokar caught 12 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown in the loss.
