(Duarte) – With a lack of depth, and a late start to the 2009 campaign we knew Duarte was going to take its lumps. It continued Friday night as cross town rival Monrovia thumped the Falcons 59-0 on Duarte’s home field.
Nick Bueno ran for touchdowns of 75 and 15 yards and also passed for a couple more to lead the way. Bueno hit Ellis McCarthy, (there’s a new form of McCarthyism in Monrovia), for a 32 yard TD strike and also connected with Jay Henderson on a two yard throw.
The Wildcats struck quick in running out to a 33-0 halftime lead. Duarte (0-2) has been outscored 114-0 in its first two games.
Monrovia improved to 2-0 but the Cats will be tested next week as they host Rosemead. The Panthers are coming off of an opening night win over Covina.
