HC Bill Zernickow and the Saints opened Valle Vista League play with a win over Wilson

Paraclete 63, Marshall 7

The Eagles were held to only 43 yards of offense as the Spirits opened Alpha League play with a solid victory Friday night at Pasadena High.

The Spirits scored on half of the 14 plays from scrimmage they made in the first half. Running back Tyler McBride scored three times, including the Spirits’ first score, a 61-yard run with7:51 left in the first quarter.

The Eagles prevented the shutout at the end of the as quarterback De’Angelo Swinney connected on a 22-yard pass to Mark Merino with five minutes left in the game.

VALLE VISTA
Nogales 38, Baldwin Park 19

The Nobles opened up Valle Vista league play with a convincing win over the Braves Friday night at Baldwin Park High.

Quarterback Gabriel Ayala threw Only five passes for 147 yards, but four of those completions were for touchdowns. Ayala also carried the ball 11 times for 182 yards and three more scores.

The Braves erased a 13-0 deficit in the second quarter and tied the game 19-19 in the third on three scores, including rushing touchdowns by Niko Carravantes and Albert Santos. Alexis Baron scored on a touchdown throw from quarterback Michael Moran. However, the Nobles scored three times in the fourth to put the game away.

San Dimas 42, Wilson 15

The Saints scored early and often as they throttled the Wildcats to open Valle Vista league play Friday night at Wilson High.

The Saints needed only three plays on their first possession to get on the board with a 13-yard pass from Josh Avila to Chris Salcido. The Saints needed only 17 offensive plays in the first half to build a 20-8 lead at halftime.

Josh Logan provided the bulk of the Wildcats’ offense, rushing 39 times for 238 yards on the night.
