Game Night: Week Six Northwest Divison

Sierra Vista looking to move up in the Montview Friday against La Puente

All games are at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise indicated

Friday 10/05

Montview League

Azusa (2-3) at Ganesha (0-5) at Ganesha

Last Year: Azusa  56-0

Azusa dropped it’s first Montview League game in the Joe Scherff era and the Aztecs will have an edge about them Friday. Ganesha has some talent but still looking for its first win in 2012. The game will be closer than last years but not my much.

Azusa 35 Ganesha 10

La Puente (3-2) at Sierra Vista (3-2)

Last Year: La Puente 36-16

The Warrior’s blasted Ganesha 56-6 without Ivan Vazquez while Sierra Vista gave Gladstone a scare. La Puente is struggling against the run and will get a full helping of Lee Jones. It should be close but Sierra Vista’s bubbas should control the line.

Sierra Vista  28 La Puente 21

Del Rey

Verbum Dei (1-4) at La Salle (5-0)

Last Year: Verbum Dei 14-13

What a difference a year makes. Verbum Dei in five games is averaging a meager 11.8 points per game while La Salle is setting the world on fire at 46.4. Russell Gordon has these kids believing.  Look for a running clock in the second half of this one!

La Salle 56 Verbum Dei 7

Olympic

Village Christian (3-3) at Whittier Christian (3-3) at Whittier College

Last Year: Village Christian 25-14

Both teams got healthy last week against Firebaugh and South Region # 2 respectivley. It’s the League opener an both teams will be looking to send notice to the rest of the Olympic. In the end, the Heralds have too many weapons to contain.

Whittier Christian 40 Village Christian 28

Pioneer

Torrance (3-2) at South (Torrance) (3-2)

Last Year: South 24-20

Their records put both teams atop the Pioneer League standings for the moment. Torrance won the Pioneer League last year and it’s only league defeat came at the hands of South. Neither team is turning heads right now but South has a couple of stronger wins. South takes it in a close one.

South (Torrance) 30 Torrance 27

Tri-Valley

Bishop Diego (5-0) at Carpinteria (4-2)

Last Year: Bishop Diego 39-20

The Cardinals ground game is a thing of beauty averaging 330-yards and 43 points a game. Jack Gregson returned to the lineup against Santa Fe Christian and with Abel Gonzalez forms a formidable backfield. Carpinteria has won four straight with a balanced attack and a defense allowing just under 19 a game. This one will be close!

Bishop Diego 28 Carpinteria 24
