Del Rio League
Friday Night, October 5th
California (5-0) at El Rancho (3-2)
Do not sell the Dons short. Do not get into a scoring contest with them. The Condors have the better team, but The Ranch might have the better scheme in this one. UPSET.
El Rancho 42 California 32
Whittier (3-2) vs. Santa Fe (2-3) at Cal High
Okay, now we get to see if the Chiefs brutal non-league schedule will pay off. The Cardinals seemed to have peaked a few weeks ago. This is SF’s shot to start theDel Riooff right and put September behind them.
Santa Fe 14 Whittier 7
La Serna (4-1) at Pioneer (1-4)— La Serna
Hacienda League
Los Altos (4-2) at Rowland (4-2)
Just when you think you’ve got these teams figured out…they keep pulling you back in. Craig Snyder is already a coach of the year candidate. And the Conquerors…whew…they are like paratroopers out of the sky. You never know where they are going to land and how hard they are going to hit.
Los Altos 36 Rowland 19
West Covina(2-4) at Walnut (1-4)
No, WestCo is not going to lose to the Mustangs. Someone else in the Hacienda might lose to Walnut, but it won’t be the Bulldogs. If I was Mike Maggiore I wouldn’t throw a pass…just run 47 GAP…or something similar.
West Covina 49 Walnut 6
Saturday Night, October 6th
Diamond Ranch (3-2) vs. Diamond Bar (2-4) at Ganesha H.S.
It feels like Diamond Ranch hasn’t played in years…The Brahamas? Who knows? How do you beat Los Altos and then get smoked by Rowland?…Panthers.
Diamond Ranch 35 Diamond Bar 14
Pacific League
Thursday Night, October 4th
Burroughs (1-4) vs. CrescentaValley(3-2) at Glendale
Is CV’s William Wang a hundred percent? Have the Indians found an offense? We go with Knoops grinders and experienced defense.
Burroughs 20 CrescentaValley 17
Friday Night, October 5th
Hoover (2-3) at Arcadia (1-4)
Two weeks ago there might have been a tornado warning inArcadia, but not now. Zach Yee has found himself, and the Apaches should roll.
Arcadia 34 Hoover 10
Muir (2-3) at Glendale (1-4)
Mustangs on a mission to not only win the Pacific, but to get into the discussion about the Southeast title. That’s right, they’re thinking final four.
Muir 52 Glendale 0
Burbank (3-2) at Pasadena (1-4)
Brandon Cox update? Any? Go with the Bank, and its running game. James Williams is like a thrill-coaster at Six Flags.
Burbank 31 Pasadena 14
San Gabriel Valley League
Friday Night, October 5th
Lynwood (2-3) at Dominguez (1-4)
How bad? How good? Dominquez has scored 30 points this season and has yet to win a game on the field. Go with Lynwood.
Lynwood 28 Dominguez 10
Warren (0-5) at Downey (3-2)
There was a time when some thought the Bears might have had a chance in this contest…Not anymore, it’s the Vikings game to lose…and they won’t lose.
Downey42 Warren 7
Paramount (4-1) at Gahr (3-2)
Something about the Pirates scares us. In fact this game with Gahr scares us more than the presumptive title game with Downey. If it’s going to happen, its going to happen here.
Gahr 40Paramount38
Suburban League
Friday Night, October 5th
La Mirada (5-1) at Artesia (1-5)
Understand the need for the Matadores to play this up. The Pioneers can score. However going head to head, it’s a VW up against a pre-smog device Malibu Chevelle…La Mirada will floor it and destroy it.
Only concern here is LM’s depth at running back for the long haul.
La Mirada 45 Artesia 17
Norwalk (5-1) vs. Mayfair (2-3) at Bellflower H.S.
If the Monsoons can figure out a way, then they are right back in this whole thing. If they lose a close game to an extremely good Lancers team, they are right back in this whole thing. If they are blown out and hammered like the Polish Cavalry, circa 1939, well…then its time to focus on 2013.
Norwalk 31 Mayfair 21
Bellflower (2-3) at Glenn (1-3)—Bellflower.
