Burroughing Through The Pacific, Indians Take CV

…And here comes Burroughs.

(Glendale)- Israel Montes scored a pair of touchdowns and the defense held on late in Burroughs 20-14 win over Crescenta Valley on Thursday night at Moyse Stadium.

The Indians led 13-0 at the start of the third quarter before quarterback Andrew Williams scrambled 89-yards from his eight all the way to the Falcons three. Moments later, with 10:40 to play, Garrett Manoukian crashed in from a yard out to make it 20-0.

Three minutes later William Wang finally got free down the sideline for Crescenta Valley and scored on a 36-yard run. The Falcons were able to close the gap in the final second when Joe Torres hit Kyle Tavizon on a 12-yard touchdown pass.

Trailing 20-14 with six seconds left on the clock, Burroughs recovered the onside kick and the game was over.

The Indians improved to 2-1 in league play, 2-4 overall, while CV fell to 1-2 in the Pacific and 3-3 overall.

Montes keyed the Burroughs attack with 110 yards rushing and scoring runs of 25 and 2-yards. His 25-yard run came with 2:39 to play in the first quarter and it held up through the first half. In the third Montes added his second touchdown to push the advantage to 13-0
