Arcadia Wins, Locks Up Pacific Third Spot

(Pasadena)- Life continues without Brandon Cox, and life is hard.

Still without its senior standout at quarterback the Bulldogs struggled offensively and fell to visiting Arcadia 21-7 on Friday night.

Still Pasadena did jump out to an early lead when back up quarterback Eli Trejo, the team’s third starting quarterback this season, struck paydirt after a 6-yard run for an early 7-0 lead.

Later in the quarter, the Bulldogs were unable to convert an interception, which set them up at the Apache 14, into points.

Arcadia answered back in the second when Jake Medel, who accounted for all three Apache touchdowns, turned a short screen pass from Zach Yee at the line of scrimmage and burned his way down the east sideline for a 38-yard score.

The game remained tied heading into fourth, thanks to each team’s defense.

In the fourth Medel broke loose for a pair of scoring runs to pilot an Arcadia surge and clinch a playoff birth.

The go ahead score was set up with 50-yard pass from Zach Yee to Sheldon McKinley. The senior running back to the ball to the Bulldog five and Medel carried it in from there.

Medel added a 9-yard run in the final minutes to close the scoring.

Jonathan Hopkins, Matt Mulvehill, Robbie Hillier, Joey Willm, Austin Ford, and Kevin Luong led a big night in whole for the Apache defense.

Arcadia is now 4-1 in the Pacific, 4-4 overall. Pasadena falls to 1-4 in league, 1-7 overall.
