In the Mid-Valley there is no question as to who the two best teams are. Monrovia and Paraclete have left no doubt. They’ve done it on the field and have been on a collision course to meet in the finals for three months now. Sierra Canyon and San Dimas tried to make a case that they were in the hunt for elite status but the Wildcats and the Spirits dispatched them both.

Paraclete fans could argue the Spirits are more physical but Monrovia can counter that with athletcisim. The Monrovia faithful cold claim that they are faster but Paraclete can counter with strength.

Tougher schedule? It’s a tossup really. The teams had four common opponents. Monrovia outscored ts four 162-68 while Paraclete had the edge in the four games 154-44. Nothing really jumps out there.

Who has more talent? That’s a wash too. Monrovia has Blake Heyworth, Paraclete has Tyler Carvalho. Monrovia has George Frazier. Okay but Paraclete has Bryan Rogers. Monrovia has the best receivers in the business in Anthony Craft and Mason Bryant but Paraclete comes close with Triston Brown and Antoyne Hutcherson. Hutcherson does a little bit of everything for the Spirits. Monrovia – Gevontray Ainsworth, Paraclete – Chris Campbell. It goes on and on…

You would probably be better off drawing straws to see who’s going to win this game than trying to sift through all the stats and stories. But we got to pick somebody and I’m going green.

Home field helps but it won’t be the difference. The difference will be who makes the most plays and Monrovia will be that team. Paraclete will make its share. But in the end Monrovia will make one more. A pick, a catch, a run, a deciding play in the fourth quarter will be made by the Wildcats. And in the end it will be Ryan Maddox and the Cats holding up the trophy for the third consecutive year. One thing you can take to the bank. It’s a can’t miss game.

Monrovia 28 Paraclete 24
