The Ten

1. The Angels trade Kendrys Morales to Seattle for left-hander Jason Vargas.

2. The Dodgers acquire former Pasadena Poly star Rob Rasmussen from the Astros in a minor league deal.

3. Kobe Bryant scores at least 30 points for the seventh straight game in a 101-100 win over Charlotte.

4. Ichiro Suzuki signs a two-year, $12 million deal with the Yankees.

5. Odessa (Texas) Permian Coach Gary Gaines has resigned after eight years on the job. Gaines was at the center of the “Friday Night Lights” book and film.

6. Indianapolis Colts HC Chuck Pagano could be on the sidelines December 30 for the regular season finale.

7. Chris Paul picks up his 5000th career assist as the Clippers beat New Orleans for their eleventh straight win.

8. “Alhambra will be in great hands. All around great coach but incredible person. Total player’s coach.” – Monrovia assistant Mike Minter on new Alhambra HC Chuck Leonardis.

10. On this date in 1982 the Chargers beat the Bengals 50-34 on “Monday Night Football” at Jack Murphy Stadium. The game featured 1102 yards of total offense including 486 yards passing by San Diego quarterback Dan Fouts and 416 by Cincinnati  QB Kenny Anderson.
