Gordon was a late arrival to our discussion, we actually were close to a consensus on someone else until his name was introduced and we were clear that he was masterminding the Lancers offense.
In the previous two seasons La Salle went a combined 1-19. In the previous three seasons combined (2009-2011) they scored a total of 558 points.
In 2012 the Lancers went 10-1, in large part because of an offense that put 517 points on the board.
If you want to attack the schedule and the first round bounce, go for it but the Northwest was a division of have and have-nots in 2012. Three teams scored more than 500 points on the season; North Torrance, Nordhoff, and La Salle. The Saxons and Rangers played 14 games, the Lancers just 11.
Primarily a rushing team 16 different players scored touchdowns on the ground. Seven others divided up 24 touchdown passes. Gordon’s offense averaged 47 points a game, the next closest was North Torrance at 38.
