Lady Aztecs Pummel Moors

(Keppel) – First year Coach Joe Kikuchi has Keppel steered in the right direction, focusing its goal on another big CIF run. On the heels of a monstrous win over nationally ranked Etiwanda in the Nike Real Run event three weeks ago, it was another offensive exercise for the CIFSS 2AA division’s #2 ranked and California’s #23 ranked Lady Aztecs in a 92-16 rout of Alhambra Tuesday in an Almont League contest.

Lauren Saiki was mere bounces away from a triple double as she settled for seven points, making three of 12 field goals but otherwise, dealt an impressive 13 assists and 10 steals for Keppel. Alyson (Aly) Lock embarked on her usual scoring rampage, making 10 of her first 11 shot attempts from the field, before closing out her account tonight with 30 points, 12 rebounds, and six steals. Samantha Lee is firmly making her case as one of the area’s premier perimeter shooters as she buried six three-pointers towards a 22-point night. Tammi Matsukiyo had eight points and 10 rebounds, while Jodi Aiau wheeled out four assists.

Alhambra’s Tracy Yoshimizu broke an over 20-minute dry spell for the Moors in the field goal department with three baskets in the fourth and had nine points.
