Pasadena Blanks Gabrielino…Twice

By Corey Kwok
Pasadena opened its baseball season with authoritative blast during a doubleheader on Saturday, and could not have been any more dominant in doing so, serving 8-0 shutouts against Gabrielino in each game.
Both pitchers that started for PHS in the twinbill went the distance.
Brian Blackburn struck out 12 and was brushed for two hits in game one, where Andrew Lathouwers led the way at bat a home run shy of hitting for the cycle by going 3 for 4 with a double, triple, and two RBIs.
Calvin Christiansen started at shortstop, hit 2 for 3 with a double, and scored two runs in game one before dealing a sensational 16 strikeout no-hitter in game two for the Bulldogs, who received additional contributions at bat from Sergio Rey (run, 2/2 stolen bases, 2 hits) and Chance Cobb (2 for 2 and a walk).
