3.) Gonzaga is #1 in the AP top 25 Basketball Poll for the first time.

4.) Matt Kemp will start in the outfield today for the Dodgers for the first time since shoulder surgery.

5.) On this day in 2011 Andres Gonzalez scores a late goal and Baldwin Park defeats Carpinteria 1-0 to win the Division 5 CIF-SS boys soccer championship. On same day El Rancho won the Division 4 crown with a 4-2 victory over Oak Hills. The Dons’ Francisco Lara scored twice.

6.) Valley Christian running back Jonathan Nicholson 2012 stats: 94-597 yards rushing, five Tds.

“Less than six months after the L.A. city council voted unanimously to support AEG’s plan, the concept is essentially dead to the NFL, according to two sources. The problems with the plan are numerous, but the most essential one is the economics.

‘The numbers just don’t work, no matter how you look at the deal,” a league source said in February. “It’s either too hard for AEG to make money [and pay the debt on the stadium] or too hard for the team. I just can’t see a way for it to work.’”
