The National Touch Football League

Kick it!

Oh, I have always been a Robinson Cano fan…

The talk out of the NFL owners meetings in Arizona is that the new helmet rule about offensive players lowering their heads is going to pass.

I understand the intention, but I’m having a hard time believing it is really about player safety but more about the league covering its butt in regards to future lawsuits…as some have posted in our comments box.

Also it seems impossible to enforce consistently. We’ve already seen the inconsistencies of “defenseless receiver” flags, as well as “blow to the head” on quarterbacks…now they want to add an offensive player lowering their five-yards outside of the box and call it consistently? Not going to work.

I think this futile gesture would go away if Adrian Peterson, Trent Richardson, Marshawn Lynch, and a few other high profile backs got together and said we won’t play. Other backs would certainly join them.

This should be followed by Hall of Fame running backs Eric Dickerson, Jim Brown, Emmitt Smith, and Marshall Faulk (who have all criticized this possible change in rules) refusing to be involved in HOF activities. Perhaps even returning their blazers for a time.

Last Add WBC: I was bored out of mind watching this event, but I was really happy for the Dominican Republic. It meant something to them. I believe it means more to them than it would ever mean to the American public.

Really hope Ed Reed returns to the Baltimore Ravens and finishes his career there…but the safety signing that has gone under the radar was former Arizona Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson signing a three year deal with the New England Patriots. Wilson has been good for an awful long time, unfortunately he’s been lost in the desert.

Just the thought that the Miami Heat could snap the Lakers 33-game winning streak record makes me ill…When the Lakers had their run snapped during the 1971-1972 season they were beaten by the Milwaukee Bucks. That Bucks team featured Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Oscar Robertson, and Bob Dandridge…A team that would probably dominate today.

The debate of the best Southeast quarterbacks should begin and end with La Serna’s Frankie Palmer and Downey’s Jorge Reyna being in the top two…after that it can get a little wild.

We were told last night, after we got off the air, that Bonita’s Tanner Diebold should be in the top five. We like Tyler Peterson at Diamond Bar…but the two guys I would argue to keep an eye on are Burbank’s Ryan Meredith (who will be a junior) and Mayfair’s Isaiah Jackson (who will be only a sophomore).

I think completion percentage is way overrated in football…

So David Garrard last threw a pass in the NFL on December 26, 2010. Mark Sanchez has committed 50 turnovers over the last two seasons, and the New York Jets are talking about acquiring Kevin Kolb from Arizona…Yet Tim Tebow is the guy they need to get rid of…

As a sort of fan of the Jets going back to the days of Richard Todd and Matt Robinson, its nice to know they are as consistent as the tide.

Last Add NFL: If it stays on this trend of attempting to make a physical game into two-hand touch out of fear of litigation…There will be a new football league that will emerge.

Really Last Add WBC: I am so tired of Bob Costas…He should be teamed up ESPN’s Chris Berman…When he waxed about what Bud Selig and MLB would really like to see is a WBC final four consisting of a Latin American country, the USA, China, and Europe…”Then it would really be global” it was gross. Shouldn’t the standard for the WBC be excellent, passionate, baseball?

Good intentions, good intentions, good intentions…sometimes they inflict the most damage.

The Dude abides…
