(Santa Fe Springs) – Donald Bernard, long time defensive coordinator  at San Gabriel, has landed as the DC at St. Paul.

“I’m really happy and excited to be at a school with the tradition like St. Paul,” Bernard said. “I’ve really felt welcome here. It’s going to be great coaching when every game is a huge game. It’s like every game is a playoff game.”

Bernard will be under head coach Rick Zepeda who will be in his first year at the helm. Zepeda’s last stop was at El Rancho. Former Bell Gardens HC David Ramos has also joined the Swordsmen staff as the line coach.

“Rick and I first connected when we coached together at a couple of all-star games. We hit it off right away. He’s a great coach and I’m looking forward to working with him,” Bernard said.

Bernard left San Gabriel when Jude Oliva stepped down as the HC earlier this year.
