Does the Smudge Pot matter? Ask Bonita's Deron Holmes.

Does the Smudge Pot matter? Ask Bonita's Deron Holmes.

Good Evening!

Is it just me (has it been mentioned someplace else?) or does St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Brendan Ryan look like one of the Village People?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad the Dodgers swept the Cards, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if St. Louis had found a way to tie it at five in the bottom of the eighth only to have Manny Ramirez hit a three-run shot in the top of the ninth with runners on second and third…and first base open.

So do we wait until next season before we start asking questions about Rick Neuheisel and UCLA football? The Bruins are like that scene in Caddyshack when the Judge says: “Well?…We’re waiting!”

The loud yell you heard from Beautiful Downtown Burbank last night was Muir coach Ken Howard after his young Mustangs squandered a 21-7 lead and lost in double overtime.

The Bulldogs, with another double century effort from Ulises Ochoa and Leo Rodas, are in the driver’s seat in the Pacific.

Who runs the instant replay booth in college football these days? Survivors of Woodstock?

Yes, Azusa has a defensive back named Desmond Reed. No, he does not wear number 22, but 25 for the Aztecs.

Speaking of which, did I pick the right time to jump on the Joe Scherf bandwagon or what? Azusa is now 15-3 under Big Joe.

Did you know in 44 years of varsity football South Hills has only suffered

eight losing seasons?

A name we should be mentioning more and more in the future is San Dimas linebacker (though he’s listed as a DB) Donald Wallace who is only a sophomore.

I’ve seen it twice and the Smudge Pot game still amazes. The only area game I’ve been to in 12 years where literally nothing else this side of a CIF title seems to matter. Case in point check out the pic of Deron Holmes.

Bad Memory Dept.: I saw Bonita’s Evan Highley play last year, but I do not remember him being as versatile as he was last night. What a great ball player.

Why is it Andy Villathedevil always has a new favorite team? He sees Burbank he jumps on the bandwagon. He sees Hoover, he jumps on the bandwagon. He saw Pasadena knock off Arcadia for the first time in decade…guess who his favorite team is now?

Interesting how quick the world turns. I admit, I’ve been impressed with La Puente this year (You might say I drank the Kool Aid), but I wasn’t five minutes out of the office Friday night when one of my writers said who have the Warriors beat in going 4-2?

LP has taken down El Monte, South El Monte, Gabrielino, and Duarte who are a combined 1-20. Gabrielino has the lone ‘W’ a 20-17 victory over Keppel. This will not help its BCS power ranking.

When Don Lou Farrar wants to talk about A.J. Powell you better listen.

San Gabriel quarterback Isaac Valdez needs to hire an body guard.

I can’t believe its already time for Rosemead and Arroyo.

…And I had the research all done on the last Keppel winning streak…

Stay thirsty my friends…
