(Rosemead) Isaia Ahhing threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns to lead Rosemead to a 41-33 win over South Torrance Thursday night at Marinelli Stadium.
Ahhing completed 15 of 20 including nine of nine in the second half. Alec Zavala complemented Ahhing with a solid running attack carrying the ball 11 times for 138 yards and pair of scores. In a see saw battle Rosemead scored first but was down 20-13 at halftime. The Panthers opened the third quarter with two scores to grab the lead and never looked back.
***Ahhing, only a freshman, wasn’t projected to start the season but Steven Nava broke his pinkie finger and has missed the first two games. Nava could be back next week.
***With the score tied at six in the second quarter, Ahhing found Oscar Noriega for a 66 yard touchdown strike.
***Noriega had six catches for 108 yards and a score.
***The Panthers commited a huge turnover in the first quarter, when Cameron Haynie scooped up a fumble and returned it 59 yards for a touchdown to tie the game at 13.
***Angel Lopez had 22 carries for 97 ayrds for Rosemead.
***South had eight different players run the football but none had more than 48 yards total.
***After South tied the score at 27 early in the fourth, Ahhing hit Luis Luna for a 24 yard score and then Zavala scored from four yards out with 1:24 left to put the game away.
****South scored with no time remaining on the clock on a touchdown pass by Anthony Peters to make the final score 41-33. Peters completed 14 of 23 for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

***The Panthers improved to 1-1 and will travel to Warren next week. South fell to 0-2.
