Rams Stomp Tigers

(Temple City) — Temple City running back Nic Starling rushed for a game high 171 yards and scored two touchdowns in the Rams’ 48-13 homecoming win over South Pasadena Friday night at North Field. 

The Rams quickly fell behind to the Tigers who scored on their first possession of the game. South Pasadena running back Matt Ayala capped off a nine play, 78-yard drive by scoring on a 31-yard run for six. They missed the the point after and led 6-0 for all of two minutes before Temple City ran the table.

The Rams offense scored 41 unanswered points. South Pasadena quarterback, Michael Partida threw two picks, was sacked and lost fumble. The freshmen only completed three passes for 31-yards.

The Rams answered the Ayala touchdown with a four-play, 83-yard drive that ended with Nick Kaneko crossing the end zone. Transfer running back, Nate Salcido highlighted the drive with 72-yard run. He also recovered a fumble on the Tigers next possession.

And it was curtains.

“It’s all about discipline,” said Temple City head coach Mike McFarland. “We challenge our kids all week in practice, and told them if we are disciplined and we do things right, we have a chance to have success.”

***Temple City’s Isaiah Durden picked the ball off twice and took one back 98-yards for a touchdown.

***Starling did not play against Monrovia or Blair.

***The Rams Nick Kaneko carried the ball three times for 4 yards and scored two touchdowns.

***TC quarterback Nasser Banihani: Six carries, 85-yards one touchdown.

***The Tigers added a late score when Heven Gomez retuned a kickoff 88-yards for a touchdown.

***”He got healthy,” said McFarland talking about Starling. “This is the healthiest he’s been since week one.”

***Salcido: eight carries, 117-yards and fumble recovery.

***For South Pasadena Ayala finished the contest with eight carries for 80-yards and a touchdown.

***South Pasadena (3-5, 0-3 Rio Hondo League) hosts La Canada (3-5, 1-2 league) next Friday night.

***Temple City (3-5, 2-1 league) travels to San Marino (7-1, 3-0 league) next Friday night.

***”We have Get better next week. We have a big big challenge ahead of us next week.”— McFarland.
