Rowland quarterback Michael Ball will be sidelined six weeks with a broken collarbone Raider Coach Craig Snyder confirmed today. Ball was hurt in the first quarter of Rowland’s 27-7 win over Rowland Friday night.
After a long run Ball was brought down by the facemask by Walnut’s Aubrey Coleman. Coleman was hit with an unsportsmanlike penalty for the illegal tackle but was allowed to stay in the contest.
Snyder felt it was a “blatant cheap shot” but apparently the referees disagreed as Coleman was allowed to stay in the game.
Leonardo Freeman did a good job of backing up Ball leading Rowland to the win. Freeman will continue to be the starter for the undefeated Raiders through the rest of the season.
Ball could be out for the season depending on how long Rowland plays. There are four regular season games left and then playoffs. Ball could conceivably play if Rowland advances to the second or third round of the CIF playoffs.
