"Oh Canada!" Football fans are missing Jordan Canada in 2009

"Oh Canada!" Football fans are missing Jordan Canada in 2009

Good Evening!

It was a nice baseball season while it lasted.

“Broxton Sucks!” Was how my daughter tied it together last night, which seemed to fit nicely.

Okay, I was wrong about the whole Kyle Orton, Jay Cutler, Bears, Broncos, fire Josh McDaniels thing this summer.

I liked Orton when I knew what he was at Purdue and Chicago, and thought less of him when Denver actually thought they were going to make front line quarterback out of him.

As for Jay Cutler…well as long as he’s throwing picks for Bad News Barker’s fantasy football team he’s okay in my book.

McDaniels? The Boy Wonder? He’s winning (showing too much emotion) so for now the yokes on me.

Suddenly I’m a New York Yankee fan…

With Michael Ball out six weeks, Rowland HC Craig Snyder can expect his star quarterback to return just in time for the semifinals.

Snyder’s frustration about the injury is understandable, but from the Walnut perspective its fans are quick to point out, while it was rough game, nothing was intentional.

If South’s Ray Hernandez gets the win against Joel Sanchez and EMHS he deserves a coach of the year award.

Note to Gil Ruedaflores: Take Montebello out early.

In the midst of the Canada transfer struggles what has become lost is how good the South Hills running back Jordan Canada is. In 2008, while at Duarte, he rushed for 1,956-yards. He cleared 200-yards six times, he cleared 300-yards twice, and rushed for 19 touchdowns. Add 337-yards receiving and two more touchdowns and you have a seriously bad dude.

Let’s be honest, we’ve lost as well by not seeing him on the field.

I like Crescenta Valley over Muir…The Mustangs can beat them, but for some reason I like the Falcons.

South Hills looks like it is going to be the team again in the San Antonio…I liken its thumping of West Covina last week as a “straightening out”…As if to say to the WC “you know where you belong”.

I’m down with Jacob Shirley, just give me two more starts.

If Cal should pull off the Del Rio this year, an exploratory surgery should be performed on Terris Jones to find if there is anything but steel comprising his frame.

Do you know Charter Oak last lost a Miramonte League game on October 21, 2005. Since dropping a 21-14 decision to Bonita, the Chargers have run off 15 in a row.

In that contest the Bearcats were down 14-0 at the half before quarterback Curtis Gold (22 of 34 273-yards 2 Tds, Int) led the comeback and went 62-yards to Mike Bentz with six minutes to play for the game winner.

Gold is currently a senior at Redlands playing wide receiver.

Redlands plays in the very underrated and under appreciated SCIAC which also features Cal Lutheran, Occidental, Whittier, La Verne, Pomona Pitzer, and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

I’ve been asked about who I like in the Monrovia-Temple City “Fate of the World” game on Friday…I’ll let you know in the fourth quarter…

Could Gabrielino upset Arroyo Friday night? All I’ll say is this, when the offensive line is struggling, the entire team struggles…If I’m Eagles HC Harold Sanin I send everything, including the kitchen sink, at the Knights front wall.

It will be interesting to see the effect of the Mid Valley Karma when Schurr faces Keppel on Friday.

The consensus is San Marino will take care of business against South Pasadena, but it would be a mistake for the Titans to overlook the Tigers…it would be a mistake to still be thinking about the missed opportunity against M-Town in Week Six…

Why is it every time San Marino’s Stevie Yortsos is mentioned it is invariably followed by “Yortsos is a beast”?…I’ve heard this from Titan staff, opposing staff, other players, and our own writers…

Can Yortsos be a monster?

Stay thirsty my friends…
