1.) On this date in 2004 Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning throws his 49th touchdown pass of the season (to Brandon Stokely) breaking Dan Marino’s previous record of 48.

2.) Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo undergoes back surgery.

3.) Former All-Pro cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha will retire after 11 years in the NFL. Asomugha, released earlier this season by the San Francisco 49ers, will sign a one day contract with the Oakland Raiders.

4.) Paul Blair, the eight-time Gold Glove center fielder who starred for the Baltimore Orioles from 1964 to 1976, died Thursday night after collapsing on the golf course. He was 69.

5.) ”He played very shallow. People talked about how Willie Mays played shallow, and Paul did the same thing. He played with assuredness. When you talk about the greatest defensive center fielders, he was right in the mix.”—Former Baltimore Orioles left fielder Don Buford on teammate Paul Blair.

6.) The Arizona Cardinals can finish the 2013 season with an 11-5 record…and miss the playoffs.

7.) In 30 previous regular season meetings the Seattle Seahawks lead St. Louis Rams head to head 19-11. The Rams last won in Seattle in 2004.

8.) Pro Bowl teams are announced today. No St. Louis Rams defender has played in a Pro Bowl since 2003.

10.) The San Francisco Giants have agreed to sell first baseman Brett Pill to the Kia Tigers of the Korean Baseball Organization. Pill batted .224 with three homers and 12 RBIs in 85 at-bats for the Giants last season. Ahn-nyoung!
