(Pasadena) – Pasadena opened up a 19 point lead in the third quarter and then had to hold on in the fourth quarter to beat Hoover 63-59 Friday night at the Dog House.

A 6-0 run to open the third quarter gave Pasadena a 44-25 advantage but Hoover came charging back. The Tornadoes cut the lead to eight by the end of the third quarter and got as close as two late in the game but Pasadena survived. Ajon Efferson led the Bulldogs and all scorers with 19 points while Rayjon Moore added 12.

***Pasadena outscored Hoover 24-12 in the second to open up a comfortable 38-25 halftime lead. Efferson had eight points in the quarter and Nick Brown had seven.

***Brown and Tyrek Adams joined Efferson and Moore in double figures with 10 and 11 respectively.

***The Tornadoes caught fire in the third quarter going on a 17-6 run after Pasadena scored the first six points. Kevin Nazari hit a pair of threes in the third and had 10 in the quarter overall.

***Nazari (18) and Teo Davidian (19) combined for 37 of Hoover’s 59 points. Davidian had nine in the fourth quarter.

***Argin Sarkisian was also in doubles for Hoover with 12.

***Hoover cut the lead to 61-59 late in the fourth but the Bulldogs followed with two straight stops to hold on.

***Adams had to change jersey numbers from 4 to 25 after a cut to his mouth in the first quarter caused him to get blood on his first jersey.

***Hoover hit eight threes in the contest compared to three for the Dogs.

***In the second quarter Pasadena scored the first nine points.

***Pasadena improves to 8-1 in the Pacific League and 13-8 overall. Hoover falls to 3-6 and 12-9.

***Next up for the Bulldogs is a home game with Glendale Monday night while Hoover hosts Arcadia.
