The TEN

(“The TEN” is not a top ten but ten items worth being included in The TEN.)

.) “NCAA rules committee is proposing a rules change that will allow defensive units to substitute within the first 10 seconds of the 40-second play clock, with the exception of the final two minutes of each half, starting with the 2014 season…Under this rule proposal, the offense will not be allowed to snap the ball until the play clock reaches 29 seconds or less. If the offense snaps the ball before the play clock reaches 29 seconds, a 5-yard, delay-of-game penalty will be assessed.”—NCAA press release. The argument for this is player safety. The hidden agenda, according to the coaches, is to stop the no-huddle offense.

.) “When I’m ready to play, I’ll play. If not, I’m not going to play.”—Matt Kemp

.) MVS extends birthday wishes to Monrovia defensive coordinator Craig Schuster.

.) “I’ve learned the value of the word legacy and being on one team and in one uniform your whole career,” said Terrell Suggs, 31, after signing a four year extension (through 2018) with the Baltimore Ravens.

.) The Rosemead Lady Panthers basketball team failed to make the playoffs this year for the first time this century.

.) On this day in 2001, Dale Earnhardt Sr., considered one of the greatest drivers in National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) history, dies at the age of 49 in a last-lap crash at the 43rd Daytona 500 in Daytona Beach, Florida.

.) Justin Sellers is on the Dodgers Spring Training roster.

.) Former Laker/Clipper Lamar Odom ready to sign with team in Spain with no NBA offers pending.

.) On this date in 2011 Mike Hobbie was introduced as San Marino’s new head coach. In the last three seasons the Titans have gone: 26-9 overall, 12-3 in league (all losses to Monrovia), and 2-2 in the post season.

.) “The new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover has more crack on it than (Toronto Mayor) Rob Ford’s bedside table.”—Dennis Miller
