Christian Lara has left Santa Fe and enrolled at La Mirada High School.
Matadores head coach Mike Moschetti confirmed to Mid Valley Sports this afternoon.
Lara was instrumental in the Chiefs, 31-28, upset over Diamond Ranch in the first round of the Southeast playoffs this past season. Against the Panthers he completed 22 of 30 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 62 yards and another score.
His numbers in 2013 were 2,126 yards passing and 17 touchdowns. He rushed for 480 yards and eight scores. In 25 games combined over the last two seasons he’s thrown 24 touchdowns and 2,194 yards. On ground he gained 1,415 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Lara’s departure from Santa Fe adds to a significant off season shake up among the returning Southeast Division quarterbacks. Jorge Reyna has left Downey for Pasadena. There are strong indications that Bryan Gadsby will not play football for Crescenta Valley next year to focus on baseball. Kevin Dillman transferred from La Mirada and moved to Texas. Also, as of right now, Tyler Peterson is set to leave the division with Diamond Bar being moved out of the Hacienda League along with Bonita.
