(El Monte) – An estimated crowd of over 3000 people packed the quad area at El Monte High School Monday night to remember Adrian Castro. Castro, a football player at El Monte, was killed last Thursday in a bus crash carrying students up to Humboldt State.
Students, coaches, faculty and the even the mayor of El Monte addressed the crowd. Coaches and football players from the rest of the Mission Valley League showed up as well to pay their respects. The players from Arroyo, Rosemead, South El Monte, Mt. View and Gabrielino came in support of Castro wearing their football jerseys.
News crews from Channel 2, 5, 7 and 9 were on hand to cover the memorial that started at 7:00 and well went past 9:00. Castro may be gone but in the hearts and minds of the student body at El Monte he will be remembered forever.
