KISS Gets Kicked in End

The KISS loses fifth straight

(Cleveland) – Aaron Pettrey booted a 17-yard field goal as time expired to propel Cleveland to a 45-42 win over the LA KISS Saturday night before 10,472 at Quicken Loans Arena. The Gladiators remained perfect on the year improving to 7-0 with the victory while the KISS is heading in the opposite direction dropping their fifth straight and falling to 2-6.

The KISS bounced back from a dreadful performance last week to compete with the Gladiators but in the end the result was the same. The KISS fell behind 27-7 in the second quarter but unlike last week when they were blown out in the second half, this time they battled back and even caught Cleveland at 42 late in the fourth.

Down 42-28, J.J. Raterink hit Maurice Williams for a 24 yard touchdown pass and Matt Estrada returned an interception for a touchdown with 8:10 left in the contest to get the KISS even. But Pettrey’s kick at the end spoiled the KISS resurgence and won it for Cleveland.

Shane Austin completed 26 of 41 for 252 yards and five touchdowns for Clevaland. Dominick Goodman and Thyron Lewis each had 10 receptions and two touchdowns. For the KISS, Raterink threw three scoring strikes but he was also picked off twice by Cleveland’s Marrio Norman who leads the league with eight. Beau Bell had a 25-yard interception return for the KISS.

The KISS will try to snap the losing streak next week when they travel to Pittsburgh to face the Power.
