1.  After losing two straight to the Kings at home, the Ducks beat the Kings two straight on the road behind a 2-0 shut out by 20-year old rookie goaltender John Gibson.

2.  The Clippers come back from a 22-point deficit to even the series with Oklahoma.

3.  Former N.Y. Yankee Yogi Berra turns 89 today.

4.  The L. A. Kiss erased a 27-7 deficit but eventually fell to the undefeated Cleveland Gladiators 45-42.

5.  Brooklyn Dodger Carl Erskin threw his second no-hitter beating the N.Y. Giants 3-0.

6.  Portland Trailblazer Damian Lillard signs a new deal with Adidas in an amount reported “well over 100 million.”

7.  The Dodgers have lost three of their last four and have fallen to third place in the NL West four 1/2 games behind the Giants while the Angels have won six of ten and have moved up to second in the AL West.

8.  On this day in 1979 Chris Evert’s 125-match winning streak on clay comes to an end.
