“Oh, Professor, you’re full of whimsy.”—Connie, The College Widow
“Can you notice it from there? I’m always that way after I eat radishes.”—Professor Wagstaff

Kick it!

Oh, I’ve always been a Clayton Kershaw fan!

After tonight’s no hitter I guess Kershaw has put to rest all of those Doug Rau comparisons…

Does anybody remember how dark the world was before CalPreps? I love CalPreps, I hope those guys are doing well and making bank. If you’re a CalPreps guy reading this drop me a line…

Talked to a football scout the other day and he said that playing at a prestigious school helps, but he also said if you got the dimensions and the skills they will find you. He used former Duarte trenchman Mike Harris as an example.

Scout Said:
“Harris played at Duarte, in the Montview League, did not play in a CIF final, or play in a game where Duarte defeated a PAC-5 school. But he had the right size, athleticism, and he got it done in the classroom. This is our job, our job is to find talent. Play good football, get good grades, and we’ll find you. Not everyone, however, is destined to play college football.”

I think the Detroit Lions should lose their trademark/patent…As a Christian the name “Lions” offend me…So does Arizona State’s use of the name “Sun Devils”…and Duke’s use of the word “Blue Devils”…and the “Deacon Demons” at DePaul.

With five rings, shouldn’t Tim Duncan be considered the greatest basketball player of all time?

I’ve grown to like LeBron James. For all the pressure that guy is under, he shows a lot of class…But in Game Five against the Spurs he didn’t make his teammates better, thus he is not Magic Johnson or Larry Bird. He didn’t keep scoring and put his team on his back, thus he is not Michael Jordan. As the tide turned against Miami his only response was to start jacking up 25 footers.

Very good, great? Yes. Greatest of all time, or in the top five? Nope.

Question: Has Climate Disruption hit south Florida? The new name for its basketball team might be the “Miami Cold” if James departs…Then again, why would anyone leave Florida to pay taxes in California or in the northeast? The perfect landing spot for Lebron might be San Antonio, Texas.

When does the hockey season start up again? I feel like I’m suffering through a five minute major.

Guilty…I know I spend far too much time talking about the Arroyo offense and not enough about its defense. Did you know out of the 33 teams in the Mid-Valley division last year, the Knights were 12th in fewest points allowed? Not bad…And they have 6-0, 280 “bad dude” (102 tackles, 9 sacks in 2013) in Robert Sanchez coming back.

But if I was required to put Monopoly money on the 2014 season, I’d say San Dimas in a repeat…and put some action on Pomona.

To answer a question…Yes, Blair is playing football this year.

I have not seen Diamond Bar, and I do not know when I will see Diamond Bar, but I got wide receiver Kanya Bell’s name floated to me. He’s good, I know that, but is he healthy and ready to go for the Brahmas?

My favorite part of the NBA season? When Avery Johnson and Tony Parker hugged after Game Five…And when David Robinson and Tim Duncan hugged. I’m nowhere close to returning to the NBA as a fan…but the San Antonio Spurs would be easy to root for.

Everything everyone is saying about Tony Gwynn is true and easy to believe…I know it was his choice to stay in San Diego but, honestly, worst thing you can say about him is that he played for the Padres…Also, I prefer my corner outfielders to drive the ball more…With that said, news of Gwynn’s passing truly saddened me.

Regards:
In regards to being offended: What does it feel like to be offended? Tell me what passions, sensations, and triggers are ignited when you are offended. I think we use the expression “I’m offended” (and the variances of it) far too often.

In regards to Steve Singiser: According to MaxPreps he’s the new HC at Arroyo.

In regards to avoiding the World Cup:…Not that there’s anything wrong with it!

In regards to Rio Hondo Prep: Very excited about seeing them compete in the Northwest.

In regards to The Walking Dead: I need a preview.

The Dude abides…
