Kick it!

I guess in baseball there is always that hope in August, after the trading deadline, that one of your stiffs and his enormous salary will get claimed by a dork who is unaware. Can you imagine the champaign corks popping in the front office at Chavez Ravine if someone said… “Yeah, yeah, we’ll take Carl Crawford and that 62-million off your hands. We believe we can build our team around him.”

No such luck. That would be like convincing somebody to trade you Clayton Kershaw for Paul Goldschmidt in your fantasy baseball league. The old P.T. Barnum statement is true, a sucker is born every minute, but sometimes you have to go and smoke them out.

Crescenta Valley had a great spring and summer, the return of Brian Gadsby just makes them all the more dangerous and deep.

This fall the Pacific League will be the football version of “Game of Thrones”…

Let’s start the arguments: St. Louis Rams defense ready to be the best in the NFC this year. I think this season it might be better than Seattle’s. Question does the Super Bowl rep from the conference come out of the West? …and if not the Rams, Seahawks, or 49ers who? Is someone going to try and sell me Green Bay? Philly?

Alpha or Gold Coast League? Can I get this cleared up?

I’m going to be miss covering North Torrance…watching the Saxons, especially in 2012, was as much fun as I’ve had with high school football.

My compliments to Whittier Christian for getting a Zero Week opponent at home instead of the edge of the universe.

When Temple City host’s Arroyo on September 5th it will be the 29th consecutive meetings between the schools. Can anyone, this is not a challenge but a question, think of an going non-league rivalry currently going on? My first thought is San Dimas and Bonita. Any others?

Speaking of Bonita…former Bearcat running back Giamani Johnson turns 21 today. He rushed for 620 yards and scored 14 touchdowns (12 rushing) in 2010. In Bonita’s run to the finals he scored five touchdowns.

“Over look Covina at your own risk…” one message sent to me this week said.

I tend to agree. The few times I’ve seen C-Town over the summer they looked good, but am I picking against San Dimas in the Valle Vista? Not a chance.

Remember the Saints are currently riding a ten game winning streak into this season, because last season they started off 0-4. The average differential in those losses was by more than two touchdowns (16-points) and many were writing them off.

It’s bad mojo to pick against SD.

Regards:

In regards to David Robinson turning 49: You mean I’m older than David Robinson? Suck…

In regards to “Greenie”: I’m glad he’s back…

In regards to Marco Briones: The Alhambra baseball standout has signed to play at Utah Valley University this coming season. (Sorry for being late, I was out of town.)

In regards to Mike Miller: Really? The Cleveland Cavaliers signed Mike Miller?

In regards to APU Football: Go the distance!

The Dude abides…
