(San Dimas) – Manny Elizalde scored on a four yard run and then scored again on the two point conversion with 2:35 left to give San Dimas a 22-21 win over Los Altos Friday night.
“I wanted to win. That’s why I went for it,” said San Dimas Coach Bill Zernickow. “They’re much more physical than us and in many ways we don’t belong on the same field as them. So I wanted to get the win and get out of here. The curse of the Central Division is over.”
Los Altos took the lead 21-14 on a run by Gabriel Perez with 7:37 left in the fourth. But the Saints answered in the ensuing drive marching 51 yards on ten plays to grab the advantage.
***Los Altos quarterback Lorenzo Silva wore number 98 because his number 13 uniform didn’t fit right.
***Elizalde rushed for 74 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns.
***Darius Chamberlain led San Dimas on the ground with 114 yards on nine carries.
***Los Altos led 7-0 early and 14-7 at the half.
***Elizalde’s 15 ayrd TD run with 4:32 left in the third tied it at 14.
***Los Altos go ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter was set up when San Dimas fumbled a punt at its own 11 yard line.
***San Dimas lost by one point to Monrovia (Central Division) last week and won by one over Los Altos (Central Division) this week.
***Tevita Sina and Perez combined for 115 yards on the ground for Los Altos.
***Silva finished 10 0f 16 for 108 yards and a touchdown. He also threw an intercpetion.
***Each team turned the ball over twice.
***San Dimas will host Diamond Bar next week while Los Altos is at home against Wilson.
