Landeros Lands Lions First Win

(El Monte)- Eddie Landeros scored four touchdowns to led El Monte to a 49-7 win over Mountain View Friday night at Vikings Stadium.

The victory was El Monte’s (1-9) first of the season and dropped the curtain on a winless, 0-10, year for View.

Landeros (8 catches 215yds 4tds) first two scores came in the first quarter to give EM a 14-0 lead. Michael Jimenez put the Lions up 21-0 with a 16yard touchdown run early in the second quarter.

Carlos Gonzalez’s flip in the end zone made it 28-0 El Monte in the middle of the third quarter and also got him an unsportsman like conduct penalty.

Martin Bobadilla put the Vikings on the board when he blocked a punt and scooped it up in the end zone.

Jimenez added another touchdown for the Lions when quarterback Manuel Santa Cruz found him from 15-yards out to make it 35-7.

Landeros put the game away with touchdown catches of 40 and 67 yards in the fourth quarter to make it 49-7. Santa Cruz finished with 250 yards passing 5 touchdowns.

Making plays for the Vikings on defense where Jesus Ordaz and George Tamayo, who each had an interception. Omar Rivera and Hector Alarcon combined for three sacks.

Sergio Sanchez had an interception for the Lions on defense.
