Fregoso Finishes off Gabrielino

(San Gabriel) – Matt Fregoso continued his assault on opposing defenses rushing for 205 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries to lead Rosemead to a 37-14 thumping of Gabrielino Friday night on the Eagles home field.

  Fregoso scored on an 11 yard run in the first quarter and broke off a 98 yard sprint later in the period as the Panthers rolled to their fourth straight win.

  Eduardo Moreno got Gabrielino back into the game with his second touchdown run of the game early in the second quarter. He finished off a drive with a four yard run with 2:43 left in the quarter to tie it at 14. He also scored late in the first on a one yard plunge.

  Rosemead responded by driving 67 yards on nine plays to regain the lead. Matt Macias completed three passes on the drive including a four yard strike to Shane Ahhing for a 21-14 halftime lead.

  After a scoreless third quarter, Rosemead finally put it away in the fourth. Macias connected with Greg Parham on a 70 yard touchdown pass. On the next series Macias went linear again finding Parham for 54 yard scoring toss.

  Chris Cancino booted a 25 yard field goal late in the game to cap it off.

  Macias completed six of 10 passes for 166 yards and a pair of scores. Moreno was the workhorse for the Eagles carrying the ball 53 times for 233 yards and two touchdowns.

  Rosemead secured second place in the Mission Valley League with a 4-1 record and 5-5 overall. Gabrielino finished 2-3 in league and 3-7 overall.
