The water looks bluer through her pretty eyes.
And everyone knows it whenever she flies,
and also when she comes down.”

Kick it!

I hate to sound sanctimonious, but can we take an easy on the boards in regards to the players? I agree, we all need to vent…So let’s get back to traditional bashing…Tell us we suck…Say I suck, Peterson sucks, Barker sucks, Andy sucks…but let’s lay off the teens.

Actually the question I want to ask regarding the boards are…Does everybody know the starting line up of the team they are rooting for? If you root for Monrovia can you name the offensive line? If you are a Downey fan can you name the starters in its secondary? What offense does your team run? What defense? Are you sick of the spread? Should more teams run the double wing or the “Power-I”?

If you’re a coach, send us a Chalk Talk. Go to the “Chalk Talk” slug and look at some of the stuff we have there…to this day those articles by coaches from our coverage zones remain the most popular of anything we’ve ever published.

Mainly what I want to see on our boards is football…I think I know football, you think you know football, but there is so much more we can learn from each other and stuff we can talk about that is far more interesting than a coach being a bum, a player being a stiff, and a dad being a lunatic.

Let the bashing begin…

The confirmed report of Burbank’s James Williams being lost for the rest of the season is terrible. A drag for the Burbank fans, a bummer for the team, and of course a serious challenge for Williams.

For us as fans…Man, if you didn’t see him on the field you really missed something when Williams was doing his thing…We pray an ultra fast (Williams-like) recovery and nothing but the best for his future.

Ten years ago tonight (9/18/2004) La Salle sophomore running back Nathan Bury rushed for a pair of the touchdowns in the Lancers 38-0 victory over San Marino. Two years later as a senior Bury rushed for 1,068 yards, David Baier rushed for 1,218 yards and combined for 37 total touchdowns and drove their team to the 2006 CIF Finals against Verbum Dei.

Last Add Burbank: The Bulldogs still have Tony Toledo in the backfield, so the cupboard is not bare.

Does anyone really believe La Serna is going to struggle against South Hills?

On Glenoaks in Burbank...for all of your beef needs.

On Glenoaks in Burbank…for all of your beef needs.

Last Add La Salle: The Lancers lost, 32-10, in the 2006 title game, but the road to the final included victories over Monrovia and Bishop Diego. They also handed Temple City’s its only regular season loss that year.

Rowland at Arroyo this week is interesting. The Raiders have given up 36 to a good team (Alta Loma) and 10 to a not so good team (Yucca Valley). Defensively the Knights have had their struggles and Rowland likes to run the ball.

Last Add Rowland & Arroyo: The Knights have outscored the Raiders 81-35 the last two years and have won both games.

APU Update:
The Cougars loss in Humboldt is tough to look at from the outside. They beat the Lumberjacks, 0-11 in 2013, twice last year. But any time Terrell Watson is limited to 51 yards rushing APU is toast. Former Glendora/San Diego State quarterback Chad Jeffries started and went 13 of 24 for 122 yards with a touchdown and a pick. He was also sacked three times…Simon Fraser comes to town this week they were 3-7 last year, 0-2 this year, and the Cougars need to give them a beat down to regain some footing in respect to the big picture of the D-2 football playoffs.

Have you seen the beef in Paraclete’s trenches? First of all never concern yourself with the Spirits non-league record. HC Norm Dahlia seems to enjoy having his team run a gauntlet of Goliath like terror to prepare them for the late fall…and it works.

Back to the trenches they got some serious girth lining up. I haven’t seen much, but I did see Niko Falato (6’1” 265) and Taylor Tuiasosopo (6’4” 295) on the offensive line along with veteran starter Robert Norris. On the defensive side Marcus Goforth (6’3” 345) appears to be “the trench” in the trenches. With Melquise Stovall running behind them I can’t see Viewpoint or Sierra Canyon upending Clete in the Gold Coast/Alpha hybrid.

Sorry Maranatha (no bulletin board material this week)…I’m picking you over La Salle.

Regards:

In regards to Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White: To the bench with you pal…

In regards to El Monte: They really need a win.

In regards to Dee Gordon: To my friends…I told you.

In regards to Cowboys-Rams this Sunday: Don’t talk to me, don’t call me, don’t text me, stay away from me…until it’s over…and the Cowboys lie stinking in the Earth…

In regards to La Canada girls basketball: The LC Girls program is looking for one team for its annual frosh-soph girls basketball tournament (December 8-10). The entry fee is $350.00, team already committed are: San Marino, Burbank, Arcadia, Canyon, West Ranch, and Immaculate Heart. If interested contact Adam Monte at: Monte.adam1313@gmail.com
