1. Salter Field will be rededicated this Friday night at Arcadia. Former Apache stars Mike Lansford and Bruce Matthews will be in attendance.

2. Bantamweight Joseph Diaz Jr., who hails from South El Monte, improved to 12-0 with a seventh round stoppage of Raul Hidalgo Monday night.

3. Olympian swim champion Michael Phelps was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving early Tuesday in Baltimore.

4. Madison Bumgarner thows a four hit complete game shutout and Brandon Crawford hits a grand slam to lead the Giants to an 8-0 win over the Pirates in the NL Wild Card game.

5. The LA Kings are 4-0-1 so far in the exhibition season.

6. San Gabriel has been outscored 220-0 in five games on the field. However they are 1-4 overall after being awarded a forfeit win in the first game against Montclair.

7. Arroyo’s Chaz Miller and La Puente’s Erick Morales are tied for the most passing yards in the Mid-Valley Division with 1058.

8. Diamond Bar’s Antonio “Noodles” Hull leads the Central Division in rushing with 658 yards.

9. The next five games for Maranatha (5-0): at Mt. View, Valley Christian, at Village Christian, Heritage Christian, at Whittier Christian.

10. Happy Birthday to former Dodger great Maury Wills who turns 82 today.
