Vikings win CIF Championship in Thriller

(Downey) – Mountain View High School and Silverado both played strong defense to take a 1-1 tie into sudden-death at Warren High School Saturday afternoon.

 

  Less then 15 minutes into the game the Vikings Uziel Merino scored to give Mountain View a 1-0 lead. But Silverado’s Arturo Rodriguez scored late in the period to tie it at 1-1.

 

  The gamed remained tied going into sudden-death and in the 89th minute Julio Fernandez scored the game winning goal to ice the victory and the CIF title for the Vikes.

 

  This is Mountain View‘s second CIF title in the last four years. The Vikings also took the crown in 2005.
