Top Ten: Mid Valley Division (10/21/2014)

By Duane Barker

By virtue of their win over Viewpoint, there is a newcomer to the Mid Valley Top Ten this week in the form of Brentwood who improved to 6-1. Baldwin Park has worked their way back into the top ten while Arroyo and La Puente slide out. Sierra Canyon remains perched atop the poll but how vulnerable will they be without Niko Harris running the show.

1.  Sierra Canyon (7-0) The last of the unbeaten teams, the Trailblazers have only given up 86 points in seven games.

2.  Northview (6-1) Alex Camacho’s 51 tackles lead a Viking team giving up a stingy 15 points per game.

3.  Paraclete (4-3) The Spirits took last week of to recover from the Westlake loss and only have two more to play before the Gold Coast League Championship game.

4.  Rosemead (3-4) The Panthers are gaining momentum week by week. The MVL is in their pocket if they stay focused.

5.  Covina (5-2) Friday night will tell how much of a contender the Colts are.

6.  San Dimas (4-3) After a two game slide, Nogales was just what the Saints doctor ordered. Showdown with Covina Friday.

7.  Pomona (3-4) The schedule is in their favor to finish 6-4.

8.  Brentwood (6-1) The victory over previous unbeaten Viewpoint vaults the Eagles in to the top ten. Their non-league schedule did them no favors.

9. Viewpoint (6-1) A long way to fall for the Patriots but that’s what happens when you lose to a team not previously in the top ten!

10. Baldwin Park (4-3) The Braves return to the top ten. Head Coach Daniel Al Gattas and crew have a date with Azusa Friday and winner takes the spot!

In the mix: La Puente (5-3), El Monte (4-4), Azusa (4-3)
