(West Covina) – Celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the West Covina 2004 championship team, this seasons rendition of Bulldogs showed some bite on defense as they shut down Los Altos, 21-0.
West Covina forced four turnovers, limited the Conquerors to just six-first downs in the game during whitewashing.
Aaron Mccorkle found Anthony Parada for a 40-yard touchdown late in the first quarter as Los Altos’ defense bit on a play-action pass.
From that point on, the Bulldogs defense did the rest of the work forcing two fumbles and an interception.
*** The Conquerors came into the game 1-1 in the Hacienda league after upsetting Charter Oak last week 29-7. The loss drops them into a two-way tie for fourth with Chino.
*** Los Altos running back Tyler Nevens was the bright spot on offense rushing for 74 yards on 17 carries.
*** Lorenzo Silva finished the night for the Conquerors going nine of 16 for 94 yards and one interception.
*** Matt Hayashi caught four passes for 39 yards and added six yards on the ground.
*** On the Bulldogs final scoring drive, Los Altos forced West Covina to punt. It was called back for running into the kicker and gave the Bulldogs a first down. They would score four plays later.
*** West Covina sits atop the Hacienda league with a 3-0 record. They face Charter Oak next week who is coming off a shutout win over Walnut.
*** Mccorkle finished the night going 4 for 7 on 71 yards and a touchdown. Forty of those yards came on the touchdown pass.
*** Tyler Terriquez rushed for 60 yards on 15 carries. Isaiah Love ran for 41 yards and one touchdown as well.
*** On the Bulldogs first play from scrimmage, they attempted a flea-flicker that was incomplete.
*** Top running back Henry Martinez left the game early for West Covina and did not return. No word on the extent of his injury.
