El Rancho jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead and coasted from there. Parea started the onslaught with a 63-yard touchdown run on the Dons’ first possession and then hit Richard Cuellar with a 13-yard strike on the next possession. Head to head hard nosed football.

Head to head hard nosed football.

***leading 14-0 lightning struck again in the form of receiver Isiah Araujo who got behind the Cal secondary and ran under a 45-yard Parea bomb and just like that it was 21-0.

***Cal elected to throw the ball instead of taking a knee at the end of the first half and Adrian Palacios turned into a 42 yard interception return for a touchdown for a 28-0 ER lead with 40 ticks left in the first half.

***The Condors showed some form of life on the following kickoff when Robert Leos took it back 94 yards to the house to close out the half.

***Leos had just four carries for Cal gaining 35 yards.

***Nathan Lowden was the workhorse for Cal with 17 carries for 90 yards including a 56-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

***”Containing running quarterbacks has been our Achilles heel all year,” said Cal HC Kyle Trudell.

***Cal punted on nine of its 12 possessions and was intercepted on another.

***Lowden’s touchdown run gave Cal hope cutting it to 34-14 but with just over a minute left in the third quarter, Drew Caballo returned a punt 45 yards for the Dons to drive a stake through Cal’s heart.

***The Dons added another touchdown on the ground in the fourth for good measure.

***Former Cal HC Jim Arnold, who coaches the freshman team, was on hand to watch the game.
