(San Gabriel)- The Polytechnic Panthers scored on six of their first seven possessions as they routed the host Gabrielino Eagles, 49-20, Thursday evening at Tongva Stadium.

The Panthers scored in much the same fashion as they have all year. The ground game was adequately manned by senior running back’s Dylan Hanel and Griffin Carter. Hanel scored the game’s first touchdown on a 4-yard run at the 7:38 mark in the first quarter.

In addition to that run, he would also throw a scoring pass to backup quarterback John Genske as the second quarter came to a close. Not to be outdone, Carter would add four touchdowns of his own, scoring on runs of 7, 15, 16, and 55-yards.

The Panthers also scored through the air…a 26-yard scoring pass from senior quarterback Parker Mathews to his favorite target, senior wide receiver Vince Porter. Porter, who also handles kicking duties, added seven point afters to account for the remainder of the Poly scoring.

Gabrielino got on the board in the second quarter, when senior defensive end Uziel Felix returned a Mathews interception 55-yards for a touchdown. The Eagles would add a pair of touchdown passes from sophomore quarterback Harrison Sanin to senior wide receiver Calvin Chen, from 37 and 43-yards.
