Question: Does the Pro Bowl interest any of you? I have no interest in the hyped pick’em between Michael Irvin and Chris Carter…Football is such a hardnosed sport it just doesn’t lend itself to exhibition.

You have a thought about the best Super Bowl champion ever? Leave it here and vote in our poll.

Still trying to find a free safety/center fielder in Green Bay.

Super Bowl Stuff

The Seahawks and Patriots have met 16 times and the series is tied with eight wins apiece.

Running back Horace Ivory had a nice four season stay (1977-1981) with the New England Patriots before spending the final two years of his career with the Seattle Seahawks.

Wide receiver Deion Branch bookended his career by starting with New England then went to the Seahawks for four seasons before returning to the Patriots in 2010.

In 1993 the Seahawks had the second pick in the draft and took Notre Dame Rick Mirer because the Patriots took Washington State quarterback Drew Bledsoe. Note because of that selection New England has had only two starting quarterbacks (save for 2008 when Tom Brady injured his knee in Week One) for the last 22 seasons.

After Mirer fizzled seven quarterbacks took turns starting for Seattle until Matt Hasselbeck arrived in 2001. They were: Dan McGwire, John Friesz, Stan Gelbaugh, Warren Moon, John Kitna, Glen Foley, and Brock Huard.

The Draft
Going back to the start of the common draft between the AFL & NFL the Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts have held the first pick six different times. But did you know…ten franchises have never had the first overall pick in the draft? (Broncos, Ravens, Jaguars, Redskins, Eagles, Giants, Packers, Bears, Cardinals, & Seahawks).

Tampa Bay will have the first overall pick for the fifth time, and first time since 1987 when they drafted Vinny Testaverde (who got better when he left). They took Bo Jackson with the first pick of 1986 (he never played a down for the team). Ricky Bell in 1977 ahead of Tony Dorsett (Bell’s promising career was cut short when fell ill and eventually died in 1984). In 1976, the its first ever pick, the Buccaneers took Le Roy Selmon who is now in the Hall of Fame.
