(Covina) – San Dimas overcame an early nine point deficit and rallied to beat Covina 58-52 in overtime Friday night on the Colts home floor.

Tied at 50 after regulation, the Saints outscored the Colts 8-2 in the overtime period. Ryan Ocampo and Omar Nasri each hit key buckets to help secure the victory.

San Dimas took the lead 49-48 with 1:10 left in regulation on a basket by Ocampo. The Colts missed the front end of one and ones on each of the next two possessions and Ocampo hit one with 23 tics left for San Dimas for a 50-48 advantage. Gregory Hutchison was fouled with seven seconds left and knocked down both free throws to force overtime.

San Dimas then sealed it  in OT. The Colts were hurt by an intentional foul and a technical foul and the Saints salted it away.

Covina got off to a fast start leading 19-10 after one. Andres Guevara hit consecutive threes, Hutchison had five and Andrew Delatorre hit a couple buckets inside. San Dimas got to within five at the half with Ocampo scoring six in the second quarter.

San Dimas cut it to four by the end of three and then outscored the Colts 12-8 in the fourth to get even.

Nasri (18) and Ocampo (17) did the bulk 0f the work for San Dimas combining for 35 points. Hutchison led all scorers with 19 for Covina including 14 n the second half and overtime. Guevara and Delatorre each had 11. Guevara hit three from long range.

The win was huge for San Dimas as the Saints moved into a tie in the Valle Vista with Covina at 5-3. There is a four way log jam at the top of the league with Rowland (5-2) and Wilson (4-2) coming  into play Friday night also in the mix.
