Tey Willams and the Minutemen advance to the CIF Finals.

(Cerritos) – Maranatha jumped in front from the outset, opened up a 20 point lead in the third quarter, before eventually settling for a 67-55 win over Valley Christian Friday night to advance to the CIF Division 4A Finals.
Tyler Dorsey led the way as usual for the Minutemen with 22 points but it was Tey Williams who provided a spark with several key steals on defense and 13 points on the offensive end. Williams came alive in the second quarter with seven points as the Minutemen opened up a 39-28 lead at the break. He also had a big steal and a bucket in the fourth to seal the deal.

Trevor Stanback threw a dunk for the first basket of the game and Dorsey hit a pair of threes and had nine points in the first quarter to pace the Minutemen to a 22-14 first quarter lead. Williams buried a three and tossed in a pair of baskets in the second and Maranatha extended the lead by three.
Valley tried to stay in the hunt behind Stedmon Bryant who had seven second quarter points and 11 at the half. Up by 11, the Minutemen scored the first five points of the third quarter. Williams drove the lane for two and Sean Romero splashed one from behind the arc and just like that Natha was up by 16.
The Crusaders got one final look at the game in the fourth with a 7-2 run to start the quarter and cut the lead to ten. But that was as close as Valley would get. Williams had a basket off of a turnover and Zach Smalley nailed a huge three to keep the Crusaders at bay.
Romero was also in double digits for Maranatha with 11, Smalley had seven, Stanback scored six, all in the first half, and Odera Nwobi had a dunk and four points.
Ronald Massey and Bryant were both in doubles for Valley Christian with 13 and 11 respectively. Kyle Westra and Jordan Mitchell each added nine.
Next up a for Maranatha is a shot at the CIF 4A Division title. The Minutemen will face Campbell Hall, a 69-51 winner of Buckley.
