And the New Temple City Football Coach is…

…We don’t know either.  There are several names we can throw out there but because we don’t wtcmascotant to blow a source or injure someones chances in getting the job (we want TC to be successful) we are going to keep a lid on it.

What we do know, from inside sources, is that the next head coach at Temple City will be a walk-on. Think about that. Temple City home of one of the most storied high school football programs in southern California. Home of the 46-game winning streak, 10 CIF finals appearances, seven CIF titles…because of poor decisions and the economic climate they will be forced to hire a walk-on coach.

Nothing against walk-on coaches but one of the beefs against Randy Backus was the concern that he didn’t control his players. Backus was on campus. Now they will be hiring an off campus coach…will he be expected to control players from wherever he is working during the day from across the southland?

Think about this. There is no one on campus to coach football at TC. They have to hire an outside guy, but where is this outside guy going to find a staff?

The football lifers that work one job and coach for another have already done quite a bit of scrambling…we’re heading to the middle of March…the economy is tough…so maybe the second job they take has to pay a little bit better than a high school assistant coach’s stipend.

If I was being interviewed I would want to know what will determine me a success, because right now everything is set against the new guy coming in. I hope he works out, I hope he takes all those guys coming back on the offensive line and just pounds the ball…a good TC football team…is good for the Mid Valley…I just don’t know if they are going to be any good this year.
