(Duarte) – Scott Wiard has been named the new head coach of the Duarte girls basketball team.

Wiard comes to Duarte from Brentwood where he was the Varsity Assistant Coach last year. He has strong ties to the San Gabriel Valley where he served as an assistant coach for 5 years at Bishop Amat. Joining Wiard on his staff will be his father, 5 time CIF champion, 2 time state champion and former Bishop Amat head coach, Richard Wiard.

The Falcons went 20-9 overall this past season and won the Montview League with a perfect 10-0 record. They lost in the third round of the playoffs to Harvard-Westlake.
