Former Bellflower OC is the new HC at Mayfair

(Lakewood) – Derek Bedell, who spent four years as the offensive coordinator at Bellflower, has returned to the Suburban League as the head coach at Mayfair, he confirmed Wednesday.
“I was introduced to the kids yesterday and I had a great lifting and meeting session today,” Bedell said. “I am very excited about the opportunity. It is a true dream job.”
Bedell replaces Mike Fitch who retired earlier this year. The Monsoons finished 5-6 overall last year and lost in the first round of the playoffs to St. Francis.
“Being familiar with the league is always a help. But the league has some other new faces leading programs. But my overall familiarity and the fact that this is the third Suburban League school I have had the pleasure of coaching at is a big help,” Bedell added.
Bedell will now begin to put together his staff with spring football on the horizon.
