Monrovia’s Justin Rosedale Finished off the Heralds

Monrovia 6 Whittier Christian 1
Brian McConnell and Justin Rosedale combined on a two hitter as Monrovia knocked off Whittier Christian 6-1 to advance to the second round of the CIF Division 5 Playoffs.
McConnell started and went four innings allowing two hits and a run while striking out seven. Rosedale threw three perfect innings and fanned four to finish it off. The Wildcats, who won the Rio Hondo League with a perfect 11-0 record, were led offensively by James Wright who had two hits and Juan Quinonez who drove in three runs. Eric Herrera also had a base hit and an RBI.
Temple City 4 Arroyo 3
Kevin Chavez allowed just one earned run and Ryan Lewis had three hits to lead Temple City to a 4-3 win over Mission Valley League Champion Arroyo Thursday to advance in the Division 5 playoffs. It was the Rams’ second playoff victory of the week. They shut out Banning on Tuesday. Gabe Juarez also had three base knocks and Chris Rabine and Tyler Hazlett had two hits each. Rabine made a huge play throwing out the tying run at the plate as Hazlett made a great catch and tag. Temple City’s next game is Tuesday.
