1.  Jordan Speith wins the 2015 U.S. Open golf tournament for his second major of the year. Speith won after Dustin Johnson three putted the 18th green for par.

2.  The U.S. Women’s National team will face Colombia today and try to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2015 Women’s World Cup.

3.  Yasmani Grandal slugged two home runs in the Dodgers 10-2 victory over the Giants to help keep the Dodgers a game and a half up the the NL West.

4.  “Pistol” Pete Maravich would have turned 68 today.

5.  Melissa Mayeux, a shortstop on the French U-18 junior national team became the first known female to be added to MLB’s international registration list. She will be eligible to be signed by a Major League club July 2.

6.  Drew Brees and his wife Brittany have committed $1 million to the Purdue football program.

7.  Former Houston Cougar and Portland Trailblazer first round pick Clyde “The Glide” Drexler turns 53 today.

8.  On this day in 1997 the Rhein Fire lost to Barcelona 38-24 in the World Bowl. The next season the Rhein Fire would beat Frankfurt 34-10 lead by quarterback (and current Duarte High School Asst. Principal) Jim Arellanes.

9.  La Serna’s 2015 non-league schedule includes road games with South Hills at the new District Field on September 18th and  Rancho Cucamonga on September 25.
